Collections–Stir Your Heart

"My entire family came together to celebrate my 80th big birthday. I wanted something special to give to my 5 grandchildren to remind them of how much I love them. I had seen Judy Tobey’s spectacular glass work at art shows and at my friend’s home. Judy’s glass art is optimistic, joyful and full of the most spectacular colors. I remembered the perfectly sized smooth glass hearts she created and instinctively knew that they would be the present that would achieve my mission for my grandchildren on that day.

 

Judy and I worked together to customize and create 5 unique hearts; each one spoke to their unique persons. After dinner, I gave each grandchild a heart and told them to remember my love for them whenever they came across the glass heart. By the amazing reactions to their gifts, I knew I had achieved my goal. Their reaction to their presents was more than I could have expected. Then suddenly, my son said, “What about me, where is my heart?!” followed by my daughter saying the same thing and then my husband and finally my son added, “What about his wife and his sister’s husband?” I was deeply moved by this chain reaction to Judys’ beautifully created glass hearts as a tangible expression of the true love that came from my heart that was then reflected back to me from my grown children and husband.  It was truly a special moment. With Judy’s help, I acquired the five additional unique hearts that my family felt ‘spoke to them'.
